Summary of Responsibilities
The Market Support Specialist, Low Speed Mobility (LSM) will provide advanced technical support and expertise on Yamaha Motor Canada’s (YMCA) LSM product line, which includes the Personal Transportation Vehicle (PTV) and Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) product segments.
As Yamaha Canada’s resident LSM technical expert, will be responsible for delivering efficient technical product support, service & issue resolution, as well as supporting any training requirements.
Will actively participate in unit testing, servicing, training and accessory development as required.
Will gain a deep understanding of the market through engagement and collaboration with dealers & related B2B business partners, ensuring consistent customer satisfaction.
- Support the market through the following activities: market information reviews, support creation of Technical Publications, Technical Orientation Guide, Product Information Guide, Service Information Guide, Yamaha Diagnostic Tool support. Active collaboration with counterparts in Japan and the United States.
- Research, analyze, compile and report market information, including technical issues and/or dealer/customer service concerns, to appropriate groups in Japan/US and locally. May include affiliated manufacturers/vendors.
- Compose technical bulletins and best practices for the dealer network using measure reports and Technical Service Information received from factories. Prepare internal service memorandums as required.
- Provide technical expertise to internal staff, Regulatory Affairs, Dealer Support Group, Regional Technical Managers, and other internal and field staff as needed. Aid in the delivery of quality solutions for dealer assistance, legal matters, parts and accessories, customer relations, and training purposes.
- Collaborate with Product Line Managers and Training Managers in the development and deployment of both technical and retail sales and service training materials and courses for dealers, B2B, government and other relevant stakeholders. Ensure internal service staff are up to date with LSM technical / market knowledge to maximize their technical diagnostic and mechanical skills.
- Liaison with Dealers and Distributors toward establishing secondary markets for Parts Accessories and Service sales. Support LSM Product Line Manager for accessory development and product planning.
- Develop new model update materials from information provided by factories or other distributors. Coordinate the distribution of the materials.
- Plan and execute field testing and Product Market Evaluation projects as required, including competitive products, to further develop personal knowledge and increased expertise. Represent Yamaha as a member on relevant Product Planning Committees.
- Degree/Diploma: High school diploma, Valid auto driver’s license, Desirable. Post-secondary diploma/degree
- Program of Study: Prefer technical designation
- Years of Experience: 3+ years of experience
- Type of Experience: Personal Transport Vehicle industry experience
- Language Requirements: French would be an asset
- Language Skills: Proficient for spoken and written word
- Preferably a Licenced technician with advance knowledge and skill in safe workshop practices
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills – Able to determine and report root cause of electrical and mechanical failures from sample parts, warranty claims, and/or technical reports
- Ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to manage time and work with minimal supervision while meeting objectives
- Ability to clearly communicate goals and objectives
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office suite
- Safe Operator skills for assigned products
- Occasional national travel within Canada
- Occasional international travel
- Some overtime may be required for month and year end processes
- Occasional overtime for field activities, web meetings, dealer shows, factory travel, and other
