Based out of North Vancouver, the BC Steelhead society (BCSS) exists for the primary purpose of preserving and enhancing the population of wild steelhead in British Columbia while at the same time promoting the protection of fish and fish habitat. This grant will help them in their restorative efforts as well as promoting selective fishing among local groups and organizations.
Located in Southeast Ontario, Northumberland County is aiming to protect environmentally sensitive ecosystems in the Northumberland County Forest from illegal or inadvertent off-highway vehicles use. The Stay Outdoors Grant will also help protect and restore habitat for wildlife by installing fencing and signs to prevent illegal OHV access.
Located near the shores of the Saint-Lawrence River in Quebec, Sentiers du Mont-Comi strives to develop, restore and maintain safe mountain bike trails. Quebec’s first Stay Outdoors Grant beneficiary, this organization will use the funds to strengthen volunteer efforts by providing them with a new gathering and storage area.
Located in Ontario, the Sudbury Trail and Adventure Riders Association (STARA) brings together riders interested in trail and adventure motorcycling with the goal to expand the love of riding throughout the Northern Ontario community. This grant will help them expand an existing trail network as well as enhance STARA’s original riding area, GOJOfarm, for all ages and all levels of experience.
With 30 years in the community, Western Sno-Riders (WSR) are aiming to provide season-round access to their three trail shelters in Newfoundland and Labrador for users with any form of disability, restriction or mobility issues. The Stay Outdoors Grant will be used by the team at WSR to design and install access ramps, safety handles, accessibility tables, motion lights and other upgrades to improve building access for all their user groups.
