Summary of Responsibilities

The DSM, Marine for Southern Ontario will be responsible for managing and supporting the achievement of all marine outboard objectives related to sales for our dealer network within the assigned territory. The individual will also be a key connection between our dealer network and our boat package suppliers to help establish partnerships between our dealers and these OEM boat package companies. This individual will be actively looking to grow our outboard market share in their territory and ensure strong, positive relationships are maintained between the dealer network, Yamaha Motor Canada and our many boat package partners.


Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Achieve fiscal year sales targets. This includes maintaining and/or increasing wholesale and retail market shares. Complete booking orders for OB and OB packaging forecasts.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Yamaha dealers and head office by frequent dealer contact and dealer visits. Dealer contact and visits should be reported accordingly and on a consistent basis.
  • Each DSM has been assigned one TSP market area to focus and report on. Establish a plan based on the current condition of the Market Analysis and work closely with our existing dealers and/or prospective dealers to ensure we are moving our dealer development in the proper direction. Report status updates monthly.
  • Ensure Yamaha products are frequently and effectively promoted through dealer advertising, participation in trade and consumer shows and Yamaha promotions. Represent Yamaha by participation in trade and consumer shows, local user groups, clubs and events.
  • Establish solid relationships with our OEM boat builder partners and work closely to cultivate new opportunities within the territory.
  • Discuss B2B opportunities with our dealers. Review the sales programs and ensure the dealer staff has a good understanding of discounts and how to submit claims. Discuss unique opportunities with your RSM and NSM. Report knowledge of current and/or potential B2B opportunities.
Education Requirements and/or Experience Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma: Post-secondary Education or equivalent work experience
  • Program of Study: Business or related
  • Years of Experience: 8 – 10 years
  • Type of Experience: Marine or industry experience
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work with detailed material and maintain accuracy is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of the Marine industry.
  • Experience with developing new business relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and deal effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to dealers on Marine business topics.
  • Ability to solve problems and support team members with their problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills – Office 365, Salesforce, SAP.
Travel and Overtime Requirements
  • Ability to extensively travel across Canada with some potential travel to United States.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
